About Jess
My Pilates Story…
Hi, my name is Jessica Adcock and I am the founder and owner of The Pilates House, LLC.
My personal journey with Pilates began about a year after giving birth to my fourth child. I was looking for a way to build up my core strength and get “back in shape” after having four babies in under six years! I wanted to find a fitness routine I enjoyed and, frankly, felt motivated to continue. So in early 2017 I walked into my first reformer class, fell in love with the experience and feeling, and as they say…the rest is history! Now I cannot imagine my life without Pilates because it helps me move and feel better everyday!
For the next four years I practiced different styles of Pilates at multiple studios with various instructors. I officially become hooked on Pilates and it did not take long for me to want to further my practice and share the magic of Pilates with others. So I began my journey to becoming a Pilates instructor.
My Pilates Instructor Training…
I chose to pursue my Pilates Instructor Training through the Balanced Body Pilates Education program. The Balanced Body program respects the traditions of Joseph Pilates’ original works, while also incorporating contemporary scientific research. I have been trained not only to learn the exercises, but strategies on how to use the exercises best to meet my client’s individual needs. My in-depth training with Balanced Body Pilates has included over 500 hours of class time, student teaching hours, mentoring by master instructors, and observation for the following:
Anatomy & Movement Principles
Pilates Mat training
Pilates Reformer training
Pilates Chair training
Pilates Trapeze Table/Cadillac/Tower training
Pilates Ladder Barrel & Arc training
Other small equipment training
In addition to my initial Instructor Training, I also participate in annual continuing education at conferences and workshops to add to my Pilates Teacher “tool box.” Continuing education is a great passion of mine and I never tire of learning new techniques and methods to help my clients and inform my personal practice.
My Certifications…
I am a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT) via The National Pilates Certification Program (NPCP). The NPCP sets standards for professional competency necessary to safely and effectively teach the Pilates method to everybody.
I am a certified Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist via Core Exercise Solutions. This program is an exercise-based course focusing on pelvic floor dysfuncton, diastasis recti, SI joint pain, and low back pain with special focus on pregnant and postpartum clients.
